| Redefining Marriage? | |
| I gave this lecture to a meeting of the Centre for the Study of Christianity and Sexuality, in Birmingham, in February 2014. I tried to show historically that if marriage has an unchanging character, it is its openness to change. I introduced 'eight pictures' of marriage, drawn from the best contemporary theology of marriage, and strongly suggested that same-sex couples were clearly able to abide by the exacting standards of each one. The argument is developed in greater detail in my books 'God, Sex and Gender' (2011), and 'Making Sense of Sex' (2012). |
